WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 6, 2019) — In celebration of its 15th Festival of Books and Authors, which will take place from September 5–8, 2019, Bookmarks will hold its annual Preface Party and Fundraiser on Thursday, July 25 from 6:30–9 p.m. The Preface Party is sponsored for the second year by Truliant Federal Credit Union.
At the Preface Party, Bookmarks will announce its 2019 Festival author line-up. The party will take place at Footnote Coffee & Cocktails and Bookmarks’ independent bookstore at 634 W. Fourth Street. The evening will include music by Cesar Oviedo’s Trio, wine from Raffaldini Vineyards, heavy hors d’oeuvres by Footnote, and a silent and live auction. Guests will have the chance to bid on exclusive packages and experiences from local and national businesses, including behind the scenes tours, tickets to events, artwork, and one-of-a-kind packages. Bestselling and award-winning authors’ critiquing services and other opportunities for aspiring writers will be included in the silent auction. Other unique opportunities feature a weeklong vacation stay on the beach at Cherry Grove, SC; an English tea at the home of local author Charlie Lovett; a lunch for two with Mayor Allen Joines; a cooking class and a meal by Delicious by Shereen; a “Dash and Grab” in Bookmarks’ independent bookstore; and “Discover Winston-Salem” packages.
The highlight of the evening will be the 2019 Festival of Books and Authors announcements. Guests will be the first to learn about featured authors, keynote and ticketed events, and the four-day schedule. Attendees will be given the opportunity to purchase Festival event tickets before the general public. All proceeds will benefit Bookmarks’ literary arts nonprofit outreach including their 15th Festival of Books & Authors, the largest annual book festival in the Carolinas, which reached over 23,000 attendees from 17 states and 50+ NC counties in 2018.
