High Point – On Sat., Feb. 1, the Friends of High Point Theatre presented its Fourth Annual TRIAD HAS TALENT! competition, proving the Piedmont and surrounding area has no shortage when it comes to superior-grade talent! An enthusiastic audience of family, friends and community members came out to support the 14 individual artists and groups chosen from an audition process which took place on November 18, 2019.

Selected finalists performed Feb. 1, awarded cash prizes and special “People’s Choice” Award

A respected panel of judges with long-standing ties within the performing arts industry tapped vocalist Martha Bowers of High Point, NC, for the first-place win of $500, with vocalists Katy Smith, Kernersville, NC, and Tara Flury, Winston-Salem, NC, taking the second and third place wins of $250 and $100, respectively. The audience had an opportunity to vote for their favorite contestant, with vocalist Katy Smith also chosen for the special “People’s Choice” Award.

Judges for the competition were Bill Warren from Performing Arts Live of Iredell; Steve Davis, former director of UNCSA’s Stevens Center; and former High Point Theatre Director Louisa Hart. Jennifer Morris served as the Emcee for the show. In addition to our sincerest appreciation to each of our judges, we would like to also thank the staff of the High Point Theatre and the Friends of the High Point Theatre, whose tireless efforts made this highly successful event possible.
