Parks and Recreation Hosts Holiday Events

GREENSBORO, NC (November 10, 2022) – It’s time to get festive with these fun and magical holiday events, giving opportunities, and even a meetup or two with Santa. All events and activities are free unless otherwise noted.

Special Events

Fall Festival at Griffin Rec Center

Celebrate autumn with free food, games, and music that the whole family can enjoy. There will be great raffle prizes, activities, and more!

November 19 | Griffin Recreation Center | 1-4 pm

Harvest Meal at Warnersville

Visit the recreation center to come enjoy a nice warm meal and music.

November 19 | Warnersville Recreation Center | 12:30-4:30 pm

Oh Gingerbread Holiday Party

This fun holiday event for ages 50-plus will be filled with arts and crafts, music, dancing, a gift exchange, food, and holiday photos.

December 20 | Craft Recreation Center | 11 am to 2 pm 

Giving Opportunities

Santa's Workshop Toy Drive

Greensboro Youth Council annual drive collecting new and like new toys to provide to families for the holiday. Monetary donations will go toward the purchase of new toys.

Cooking, Crafts, & Contests

Whisk it Wednesdays: Sideways Holidays

This inclusive program gives young adults the opportunity to learn and enhance their cooking skills. We will be making different side dishes using various methods that might become a tradition in your house during the holidays. Cost is $10. Register to participate.

November 16, 30, December 7, 14 | Via Zoom | 5:15-6:30 pm

Holiday Garden Crafts

Get into the holiday spirit with creating holiday garden and yard crafts that you can use at home and during the holiday season. Supplies and unique craft projects will be provided at each program. Open to all ages. Register to attend.

November 26, December 3, 7, 17 | Xperience @ Caldcleugh | 12 noon to 1:30 pm 

Gingerbread Wars

Compete for the title of Gingerbread Champion in the third annual Greensboro Gingerbread Wars. Send your gingerbread designs to gsoparksandrec@greensboro-nc.gov by December 12 to enter. Categories: family, ages 3-6, ages 7-11, ages 12-14, 18+, and overall grand prize winner.

Holiday Cookie Decorating

Get into the holiday spirit by creating cookies that taste as good as they look. Baked cookies will available for you and your child to decorate.

December 1 and 9 | Leonard Recreation Center | 6:30-8 pm

Holiday Bop 'n Paint

This guided paint class is for kids ages 6-12. You will get to paint, snack, and listen to music to match the holiday spirit! Cost is $8. Register online.

December 2 | Lindley Recreation Center | 6-7:30 pm

It's Winter Y'all

Come join us for a day full of seasonal crafts with new friends. Bring your own snacks and come hang out with us! Cost: $5.

December 3 | Leonard Recreation Center | 10 am to 2 pm 

Everything Santa

Santa Mail

Drop your letter to the jolly red elf in one of our Santa Mailboxes. Santa will write each of you back before Christmas Eve.
