HIGH POINT, NC (April 12, 2019) Just in time for baseball season, the High Point Museum will open an exhibit highlighting baseball in High Point. “At the Old Ballgame” will be on display April 23 – July 7 in the lecture gallery and the mezzanine at the High Point Museum, located at 1859 E. Lexington Ave.
Area newspapers have documented baseball games in High Point since the 1880s. By 1908, The High Point Enterprise noted increasing attendance because “Baseball is very popular with the average citizen.” This exhibit will look back at our city’s enthusiasm for the national pastime.
Programs planned include:
- Thursday, April 25, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Swinging for the Fences: Can Baseball and Millennials Revive an Iconic Industrial City?
