Address:341 S. Elm St., Greensboro

Phone:336-691-9990
Event time:8pm-11pm
Price: $3-5 donation
Logan Venderlic - Sprung from the hills of rural West Virginia, Logan Venderlic weaves his own brand of modern, indie-infused hooks and applies it to contemporary Appalachian folk, dubbing the creation “Folk Wave.”nnThe Record - The Record started in 2011 as a small recording project by long-time band mates Sean Spollen and Tyler Drake (Cool Ethan/Gossip Grows on Trees). They self-recorded, mixed, mastered, and released their first 6-track EP, The Things You Can't Forget, in May 2011 and played local shows as well as an east coast tour as a acoustic duo in support. In the fall of 2011, they added keyboardist/vocalist Will Hendrick to the lineup and began work on their second EP, Party Monster. Again, the group maintained their DIY attitude as they recorded, mixed, and mastered the EP out of their house. During the Party Monster sessions, the group expanded and added a rhythm section in drummer Robbie Duncan and bassist Forrest Leker to complete their sound. The new album from The Record swings from grungy guitar leads to multi-part vocal harmonies, blending the now five-piece band’s diverse range of influences into four big pop-rock songs. nnnWood Ear - In the culinary world, the term “wood ear” refers to two different varieties of edible fungus commonly available in Asian markets and used in certain types of cuisine. At first blush, it has little to do with the Durham, N.C. band that shares its name. In existence for a little more than eight years, Wood Ear is a band that revolves around the songwriting of Nate Tarr, whose dark but redemptive odes are wrapped up in daydream-y distorted folk rock. It’s the kind of thing that feels distinctly modern—and also distinctly American.
