National Ballet Academy Denver Summer Intensive nJune 24, 2013 - July 27, 2013nnAbout the Intensive nThe National Ballet Academy of Denver offers an comprehensive technique intensive International Summer School for serious young dancers from the USA and overseas. Each day consists of five to six hours of classes and workshops, six days a week. Emphasis is placed on each dancer’s technical and artistic growth through individualized attention, career development classes, and special workshops. All classes offered during the summer intensive will serve to enrich the dancer’s exposure to the classic ballet training curriculum.%u2028%u2028A distinguished faculty from the National Ballet Academy of Denver led by Artistic Directors Cornell Callender and Andrei Vassiliev along with renowned international guest teachers, join the staff to make up a distinguished teaching faculty, providing classes in a variety of dance styles, under the guidance of our Directors.%u2028%u2028The course offers classes including Classical Technique, Pointe, Repertoire, Pas de Deux, Body Conditioning and Variations. %u2028%u2028Students may apply to be accommodated at the School's supervised dormitory, subject to availability. General hotel information and costs of accommodation will be sent by the Summer School Office to those offered places. nScott Barkan is a guitarist, singer and %u200Bsongwriter based in New York's Hudson Valley.After years of working as an in demand sideman for various songwriters and bands around the country, having his guitar playing and songwriting featured on national television (The Real World, The Hills, Keeping up with the Kardashians, etc.), as well as leading numerous guitar oriented instrumental projects, Scott has recently struck out as an acoustic based solo artist.n%u200BnThe new project, which finds Scott's signature shimmering guitar tones and skronky, avant/country improvisations serving as the backdrop for his witty, self-effacing and often heartbreaking lyric writing, is without-a-doubt Barkan's most personal project to date.

Forecast Music, the Piedmont Triad’s premier contemporary music group, proudly presents amazing works from across the country as well as wonderful pieces composed in our own backyard. Included will be the work of the winner of our 2013 national call for scores, George Heathco of Texas, a fantastic submission from last year's call by Nicholas Omiccioli of Missouri, and a slate of amazing home grown Piedmont Triad music, including works by Lance Hulme, Trevor Bumgarner, and Eric Schwartz. Performers include Forecast regulars Carla Copeland-Burns-flute, Michael Burns-bassoon, Jacqui Carrasco-violin, and James Douglass-piano, as well as guest artists Kelly Burke-clarinet and Baron Tymas-guitar.
