Detail
The Philidor Percussion Group, named after 17th-century kettledrummers Jacque and André Philidor, is comprised of North Carolina musicians John R. Beck, Rob Falvo, Wiley Sykes and Peter Zlotnick. Active since 1991, this talented ensemble is known for its combination of exciting music, virtuosic musicians, and theatrical sensibilities. Philidor has performed recitals and educational programs throughout much of the Southeast. They have been the featured soloists performing Russell Peck’s The Glory and the Grandeur in dozens of performances, including those locally with the Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and North Carolina Symphonies. Their programs draw on traditions from around the world where African and funk, mambo and Mozart, Indian tabla and jazz are all related in the world of rhythm.
