Award-winning performance space Triad Stage opens its season with Picnic, the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by William Inge that concerns a handsome drifter in small-town Kansas and a fateful Labor Day picnic. The show runs through Sept. 27, but tonight is as good a night as any to catch the action.

As I check job websites daily and look in every newspaper classified I can get my hands on, I realize that a good job today is like finding a needle in a haystack.

After a month-long investigation Jon Palmieri, 32, was taken into custody by the Greensboro Police Department on Aug. 18 and charged with solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act. Palmieri communicated with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl online for a month before setting up a meeting to engage in sex.

Winston-Salem police officers reported to call at the Shell station located on University Parkway in Winston-Salem at about 1 a.m. on Aug. 11. The suspect approached the cashier demanding money from the drawer. The cashier believes the suspect was armed but did not see the weapon.

When we first met I slowly learned that he was a fan of just about every comic-book character ever created. As time went on it was established that if a comic-book film came out we would be at the theater to see it, even if he didn't particularly care for the comic associated with it.

My stepdad has a hunting lodge that he and his closest friends call home for about three and a half months out of the year. It's minimal by my standards: plain walls with the occasional deer head or horns for encouragement and decoration.
