Before listing off this week’s meager number of events, let me first correct an oversight that I made last week. In last week’s Playbill I included Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Anything Goes at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Now through Sunday Theatre Alliance continues Altar Boyz, a musical comedy about a fictitious Christian boy-band on the last night of their national Raise the Praise tour. As they perform such hits as “I Believe,” the boys question their loyalty to each other and whether or not faith is what’s holding them together.

Twin City Stage finishes its 77th season with A Funny Thing Happened on The Way to the Forum, a fast-paced and witty farce from Broadway. The musical, running Thursday through Saturday, tells the story of a crafty slave who tries to gain his freedom by helping his master win the hand of a beautiful, but slow-witted courtesan.

Wednesday through Thursday, Community Theatre of Greensboro continues Les Miserables School Edition at the Broach Theatre. Recounting the struggle against adversity in 19th century France, the story follows a petty thief who is released from his 19-year term and despite his parole becomes an adoptive father, as well as an honest mayor.

Wednesday at 7 p.m., GTCC’s Jamestown campus presents its first-ever Dramathon, a newly created event by the school’s Drama Club. More than 30 students will contribute monologues, scenes and songs from well-known plays and musicals at the Fine Arts Theatre in the Koury Hospitality Careers Center.
