A passenger in a United Yellow Taxi tried to rob the driver at knifepoint after being picked up on West Vandalia Road around 12:30 a.m. on Monday. The driver stopped the taxi and got out, and when the would-be robber exited too, the driver quickly got back in the taxi and drove away without surrendering any property.

Greensboro police have arrested Vondrelle Xavier Majette, 23, of McLeansville, and Chris Taylor, 36, of Roanoke, Va. in connection with an aggravated assault at the Courtyard by Marriott on West Wendover Avenue. Majette was shot in his lower left leg, according to a police press release, and Taylor took a gunshot to his abdomen.

Delmar Brevard Polite, 47, was upstairs at his home on Thornaby Drive in Winston- Salem at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 when teenage intruders forced open his front door. Polite fired a .357 handgun at them as they began climbing the steps, and the teenagers fled.
