A man discovered human remains while walking in the woods near Winston Lake on Jan. 25. Winston-Salem police followed up and located two human skulls and other items that suggested “a ceremonial event.

A passenger in a United Yellow Taxi tried to rob the driver at knifepoint after being picked up on West Vandalia Road around 12:30 a.m. on Monday. The driver stopped the taxi and got out, and when the would-be robber exited too, the driver quickly got back in the taxi and drove away without surrendering any property.

Greensboro police have arrested Vondrelle Xavier Majette, 23, of McLeansville, and Chris Taylor, 36, of Roanoke, Va. in connection with an aggravated assault at the Courtyard by Marriott on West Wendover Avenue. Majette was shot in his lower left leg, according to a police press release, and Taylor took a gunshot to his abdomen.

Greensboro police arrested Chandler Antwan Gist-Davis and charged him with resist, delay, obstruct an officer and robbery with a dangerous weapon on Sunday after an armed robbery incident at the Fairway One Stop in the 1600 block of South Elm-Eugene Street.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office investigated a complaint received by the department of public health that 41-year-old Lauretta Michelle Cheek was performing cosmetic enhancement procedures without a medical license. Cheek operated her illicit business in rented Greensboro hotel rooms, according to the complaint.

Winston-Salem police executed a search warrant on a house on Redbud Lane in early November based on the findings of a joint investigation with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the US Homeland Security Department and NC Alcohol Law Enforcement. During the raid, police seized 45.

The cause of death of a body found in a Winston-Salem apartment complex dumpster has been ruled a homicide by the NC Medical Examiner’s Office. The victim has been identified as Constance Edwina Hall, who was reported missing on Nov. 14.

Greensboro police responded to a call from the Wendy’s parking lot on Summit Avenue at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14. According to the victim, she was there to meet the suspect to buy a Wendy’s gift card, but instead the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded money before fleeing in a burgundy four-door Sedan.

Greensboro police have arrested Christopher Dean Altis and charged him with robbery after an early-morning incident at Carolinas Diner on South Regional Road on Nov. 2. Upon arrival, witnesses informed officers that a white male suspect, age 20-25, 5-8 in height, weighing.

Alex P. Little, 44, an employee of Exprezit gas station on Linville Road, had fired 25-year-old Richard Vance Dixon, also an employee, on Nov. 1. Early Sunday morning, at about 2 a.m., Dixon walked into the gas station with a handgun and shot Little several times.

Greensboro police arrested Robert Lebrenden Martin on Sunday and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon and assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in connection with an incident in the 1500 block of Elmer Street on Oct. 29.

Winston-Salem police arrested Bertha Mitchell, a senior accounting clerk employed with the citys entertainment sports complex, and charged her with embezzlement on Oct. 21. Police learned that Mitchells deposit from the Dixie Classic Fair came up short by $9,000 on Oct.

A victim told Greensboro police that three armed woke him up while he slept in his room on Brookfield Drive around 1 a.m. on Oct. 14. The suspects had guns but the victim was stabbed and his residence ransacked, though the police report did not say what, if anything, was taken.

Michael Allen Kick, 22 was walking across the parking lot at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum after leaving the Wilco-Hess station after midnight on Oct. 4. Kick told Winston-Salem police that three black males in their late teens or early twenties followed him, pushed him to the ground and beat him before taking his wallet.

A tall man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a leopard-print scarf over his face entered Taco Bell on High Point Road in Greensboro armed with a gun around 9 p.m. on Sept. 30. While an employee went to the safe in back, the suspect fled for an unknown reason.

Police say Bradley Key kidnapped his girlfriend and one of their two daughters on US Highway 29 in Guilford County at 6:45 a.m. on Sept. 18, later releasing them. Key was at large and armed with a shotgun, but police found him on Sept. 22 in the woods near the end of Desmond Road.

Delmar Brevard Polite, 47, was upstairs at his home on Thornaby Drive in Winston- Salem at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 when teenage intruders forced open his front door. Polite fired a .357 handgun at them as they began climbing the steps, and the teenagers fled.
