When I met Mr. [Jorge] Cornell, I changed my whole perspective on gangs [“Latin Kings indictment stuns supporters”; Dec. 14, 2011; by Jordan Green]. I saw how “gangs” can be a positive force for kids who have not had loving and stable home environments — to give them something to connect with and aspire towards.

A football team led by a Heisman trophy winner cannot overachieve. It either newspaper editor with a big microphone has the potential to overachieve.

Hey Brian, I sadly read the plight of local body painter Foxy Moxy in your periodical [Banned on Facebook; 14, 2011; by Ogi Overman]. Censorship has always been a problem for creative artists, and small-minded persons can be so, well, small-minded, but remember, both Nietzsche and Howard Johnson assure us that out of chaos comes order.

So, young grasshopper, finish cutting your teeth on some real talent and get back to us in a couple of years.

Hi Eric, Your piece in YES! Weekly was really excellent [Local currency project garnering support, gaining speed; Aug. 3, 2011; by Eric Ginsburg]. You did a great job of presenting the facts accurately and conveying the spirit of the project. I especcially appreciate it when I contrast some of the abysmal tv coverage weve had recently, where the reporter feels at liberty to just make up facts and string them together any old way.

As I browsed your July 13-19 edition, I noticed your Ten Best and felt compelled to make a comment. Whether justice or a miscarriage of justice has taken place within a courtroom verdict depends upon the charge that has been levied. You left the actual charges out of serveral of the cases you pointed out.

need? Leave your brother alone!) But I remember when I did not speak Spanish, and I used to have the same feeling. Why is it that of all the possibilities, we always assume the worst? Do we think that Spanish-speaking people secretly speak English too, and they only speak in Spanish when they dont want to be overheard?.

The White Street landfill issue just will not go away until those persons who it affects accept the fact that it will have to be re-opened. It is costing the taxpayers an excessive amount of money to transport this waste 70 miles away to the unhurried [sic] landfill.

I think that participatory budgeting would be a good idea for Greensboro [Participatory budgeting proposed for Greensboro, by Eric Ginsburg, June 22, 2011]. I just wanted to thank you for your coverage of the City-County Planning Boards efforts to reduce sprawl here. Its a complicated issue that can be helped when people better understand the underlying issues as they will after reading thoughtful articles like Eric Ginsburgs this week.
