Karla Davis — singer/songwriter

Meet Karla Davis, UNCG graduate and recent transplant to Nashville, where she recently won the 28 th annual Colgate Country Showdown, along with a check for $100,000. The showdown, which names the best new artist in country music, is the latest marker in a meteoric rise since her days in a Lady Spartans soccer uniform.

Her performance on Jan. 14 included two original songs, “Keep Moving On” and “Whiskey’s Got a Job to Do,” demonstrated her aptitude for songwriting as well as her musicianship — she plays by ear and is sponsored by Takamine Guitars. Never one to forget her roots, Davis comes home to Monroe Friday night from the Music City to perform a free show at La Vida Mocha coffee shop. Give her a listen at www.karladavismusic.com.
