Real name: Dianté “Dee” Bryant
DJ Handle: DJ Focus
What it means: Focus is the “center of attraction or attention.” DJs
were and are at the forefront of music, especially when hip hop began.
I think it’s fitting.
What I play: Old and new hip hop, R&B, reggae, Top 40… whatever
is needed.
Catch me at: Mixshows on The6FM.com and different clubs (Music City,
Platinum Nightlife, etc.)
Got in the game: May 2009
Why I do it: My love of music. I do everything to music (eat, sleep,
shower… EVERYTHING). The energy from the crowd gives me a rush like no other.
Influences: Jazzy Jeff, Jam Master Jay and anyone doing it before me.
Oh yeah, the Big Homie DJ Reflection. Can’t forget who put you on.
First pro gig: Rumba D’ Cache (Greensboro). I had cheap equipment
but I still rocked the party. It wasn’t real smooth but I rocked it.
Favorite technique: Crab scratches and smooth blends.
Personal playlist: J. Cole, Little Brother, Freeway and a lot of R&B.
I listen to a little bit of everything if it sounds good.
Favorite albums: Biggie — Ready to Die, Jay Z — Reasonable Doubt,
Blueprints 1 and 3, Snoop Dogg — Doggystyle, Dr. Dre — both Chronic
albums, UGK — Dirty Money, Outkast — Aquemini
My gear: Technics 1200s, Numark mixer, Ortofon scratch needles and
Serato of course.
