I know it doesn’t start for quite a while, but can you tell me anything about the next season of “24”? — Gregory J., via e-mail
The eighth season of Fox’s mega-hit “24” doesn’t start until January 2010, but we already have some clues as to what to expect in the new season. First, we’ll see some new faces: Anil Kapoor (the game-show host in Slumdog Millionaire) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (who recently announced that he and his wife, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, are expecting their first child this fall). Anil plays Arman Hashemi, who is a Middle East leader on a peacemaking mission in the US Freddie takes the role of Davis Cole, a Marine who runs CTU’s field operations and wants to follow in Jack Bauer’s footsteps. Star Kiefer Sutherland teased fans with some info about the new season: “I can tell you that it’s grounded in a political shift that’s taking place in the world, that I actually think is probably the most realistic thing we’ve ever done.”
Did actors Ryan O’Neal and Leigh Taylor-Young have a son together? — Charisse V., via e-mail
Ryan and Leigh met while starring together in the 1960s television series “Peyton Place.” They were married from 1967-73, and she did indeed have a son, Patrick O’Neal. Patrick, 41, also is an actor, guest-starring in such fare as “China Beach,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Quantum Leap” and “Wild Hogs.” From 1995-2002, Patrick was married to actress Rebecca De Mornay, with whom he shares two daughters, Sophia and Veronica. Patrick is presently an anchor and reporter for Fox Sports Net in Los Angeles.
Now that “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” has been canceled, there is talk of Summer Glau being in a movie with Ryan Phillippe.
Anything truth to that? — Ed R., Memphis
I too have heard the faint rumblings that Summer is set to team up with Ryan on some sort of Viking movie; however, even louder still is the talk that she could appear on Season Two of Josh Whedon’s new series, “Dollhouse.” Summer, who previously co-starred in Joss’s cult drama “Firefly,” is very much on his mind since the cancellation of “T:SCC.”
Joss recently told Entertainment Weekly: “If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto ‘Dollhouse’] hasn’t oc curred to me already, then they have not met me. But first we have to come up with something that works.”
“Journeyman” was one of my all-time favorite shows.
Any chance it could return? – Tim A., Euless, Texas
The inventive and intriguing NBC show from the 2007 season, “Journeyman,” had me hooked as well. Sadly, the series is dead and gone. Summer Glau Many of its stars have gone on to star in other things: Kevin McKidd is a regular fixture on “Grey’s Anatomy” as well as numerous movies currently in production, and Moon Bloodgood co-stars in the feature film Terminator: Salvation as well as USA’s “Burn Notice.”
