Local talent
Vik-E Butler has finally seen her dream of five years come to fruition: being our Local Talent model. Born in Shreveport, La., Butler is an Army brat who claims Colorado Springs as her hometown and currently resides in Greensboro. A recent graduate of Guilford Technical Community College, she now has credentials in early childhood education and is working through the college’s substitute program where she relieves other teachers while they further their own studies. “My main goal is to be a family advocate, “ she says. Butler also has a bachelor’s degree in communications studies with a minor in human development from UNCG. “I found the love for the family thing through my minor,” she says. She plans to go back to UNCG for a master’s in family therapy. When Butler is not working towards her goal, she attends every festival she can. “I love everything festival,” she says. “From chili to chicken wings, I love anything that has ‘festival’ at the end of it.”
