Thieves caught during drug investigation
Charles Woods, age unknown, told Greensboro police that he was walking west on Lee Street at about 5:15 p.m. on April 6 when two black boys approached him and asked for change, and then took his MP3 player when he told them he had no change. Woods said he chased the boys until he caught one of them, and a struggle ensued. Then the other boy took Woods’ backpack with his laptop. The two alleged thieves reportedly fled south on Dick Street.
Later, several people were stopped in Hairston Homes during a narcotics investigation, and two officers reportedly recognized the alleged thieves. The boys’ ages are listed as 14 and 16 years old, but their names are not being released because of their juvenile status. Police recovered the MP3 player, but not the computer.
Man accused of molesting child
Winston-Salem police arrested Jessie Olin McNeely Jr., 44, on April 7 for alleged sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl, whose name is being withheld.
Police showed up at Baptist Hospital upon receiving a report from Forsyth County Child Protective Services, and began their investigation. At last report, McNeely was being held under a $880,000 secured bond at the Forsyth County jail.
We’re not gonna take it
Brandon Matthew Lownes, 46, allegedly broke in through the front door of a house on Gray Avenue in Winston-Salem and attempted to rob occupants Sergio Gonzalez Ramirez and Rufino Gil Clara, who are both 27, at 2:48 a.m. on April 8. Lownes reportedly wore a bandana and gloves while displaying a knife, but Ramirez and Clara did not let the intruder go about his business. They overpowered him and took him to the ground, detaining him until the police arrived and took custody of him.

Guillermo answered a knock on the door of his home on Summit Avenue in
Greensboro at about 10 p.m. on April 10 and found two men there. One, a
white man in his late twenties with a medium build and short blond
hair, wore a black shirt with the word “police” written across the
front, a police-style belt with a flashlight, black pants and black
boots.
The other, a black man, wore a black sweatshirt and
similar black pants and black boots. Naturally, Guillermo took them for
police officers. The two men reportedly asked Guillermo to look at some
pictures they had on a piece of paper, explaining that they were
looking for someone. The men then reportedly asked for the wallets of
Guillermo and another person who was at the house. The black man took
the wallets and went into the bathroom, then returned the wallets, and
the two men left. After they were gone, Guillermo found that the cash
in his wallet had been stolen.
Dead man found in McDonald’s parking lot
Winston-Salem
police officers responded to the parking lot of the McDonald’s at Hanes
Mall on at 2 p.m. April 11 on a report of a dead person.
They
located a body in a vehicle in the parking lot. The dead man is
identified as Timothy Matthews Marley, 38, of Greensboro. Police found
no signs of foul play, but have not determined a cause of death. The
body was taken to Baptist Hospital for an autopsy.
