WZTK 101 FM CHANGING FORMAT

Listeners in the Triad received a rude awakening last week, as WZTK-FM Talk 101.1 announced it was switching formats to Latino radio programming, moving some of its syndicated and local shows to the Winston-Salem-based WSJS 600 AM radio. The announcement, effective immediately, came as the parent company Curtis Media Group tries to increase long-term profitability. “The radio station you have come to love over the past eight years is gone,” a statement on WZTK’s website said. “While we were successful by any number of standards, the advertising slowdown of the last four years — combined with the entry of new talk radio competitors—made a business model we created in 2003 no longer sustainable.” Talk hosts Brad & Britt are among the programming that will change stations to WSJS, along with Neal Boortz and Clark Howard. WZTK covers the Triad and Triangle area, broadcasting from Burlington.
