Goodwill offers free advice on earned income tax credit
Goodwill Industries of Northwest NC is encouraging residents who earn less than $49,078 to find out if they qualify for the earned income tax credit. Those who are eligible may receive up to $5,751 in tax credits from the Internal Revenue Service. The agency invites taxpayers to visit three locations to determine if they are eligible. The Goodwill Industries JobLink/Career Connections Center, located at 2701 University Parkway in Winston-Salem, is offering the service Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. through April 12; the Career Connections and Prosperity Center, located at 585 Waughtown St. in Winston-Salem, is offering the services Mondays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays 4 to 8 p.m., Fridays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and the Goodwill Industries Career Connections Center, located at 2760 Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem, is offering the service Tuesdays from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sherry Carpenter, vice president of workforce development services, said only four out of five eligible Americans take advantage of the earned income tax credit.
