local talent

Kristi Darr Photographer

Kristi Darr isn’t your average photographer — she spent years traveling internationally, frequently shooting weddings in the Caribbean, and was gone nearly three weeks a month. A native of Welcome, outside of Winston-Salem, Darr lives in Greensboro and is working to establish her business locally so she can spend more time with her son, who is almost two years old. After caring for a 95-year-old woman who told her that if she found something she loved, she “would never work another day” in her life. Kristi quit her job as a property manager and took a stab at photography. Darr, who shoots with Nikon digital cameras and prefers her 17-55 lens, said her experience, style and customer rapport are what set her apart. On Jan. 28, she will be hosting a female-only party at the Proximity Hotel, doing boudoir photos and featuring a professional make-up artist. “It would be the ultimate girls night out,” Darr said. “It really boosts your self-confidence.”
