Rachael Delaney student

It would be difficult to list all of the things that sets Rachael Delaney apart from her peers. Of the numerous clubs and organizations of which she’s a part, Delaney said her favorite was Students Against Destructive Decisions. “I got to be an example for other kids at my school,” she said. The rising UNCW first-year was named the Distinguished Young Woman of North Carolina for 2011, a statewide competition held in Greensboro. The scholarship award, which is the oldest national scholarship for high school girls, judges not only academic performance, but also talent, physical fitness, self expression and interview skills. The Kinston native plans to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner and continue with Spanish after serving as her high school’s Spanish Club vice president. Delaney was the varsity cheerleading campaign and plans to try out for the team in college.
