DJ handle: DJ JD
What it means: My grandfather’s name was James, so to avoid confusion at family events they always called me JD. When I started DJing my cousin called me DJ JD and I ran with it.
Real name: James Weaks
What I play: Hip hop, country, rock, pop
Catch me at: The majority of my events are private events, mainly weddings and birthdays. I also do a large amount elementary/middle/high school events, college events, cookouts, family reunions and corporate events. I also do events for Pillow Talk and the Renaissance in Greensboro.
Upcoming shows: Bentley’s Bar and Lounge, Aug. 17, 24, 31.
Got in the game: In 2006
Why I do it: I saw DJ J-Flex DJing one day at 102 Jamz and fell in love with it. I began trying to duplicate it on my dad’s CD players. He had a mixer and let me play around with it and eventually I started mixing songs together. I watched other DJs like DJ J-Flex and DJ Sound Machine and pretty much taught myself.
