YES! Weekly does the Big Easy

“If you like the band, then tip the band.” You can go broke abiding by the old New Orleans’ performers maxim. Party bands blare out of the Bourbon Street tourist traps practically around the clock. There’s a smooth a capella group crooning classic doo wop or band of young brass blowers cutting their chops down every alleyway. Somewhere, there’s an iconic NOLA player killing a crowd during a weekly residency. You never really know who you’ll to run into either: John Legend at the hotel, Ron Jeremy at Tipitina’s, a bedazzled secondline queen sashaying through downtown and semi-obscure distillers doling out unlimited free samples somewhere most every afternoon.

YES! Weekly hit the annual convention for the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies this past weekend in the Big Easy, and in addition to some damaged livers and spoiled palates, we brought back a severe case of postpartyum (sic) depression (and some photos).
