Winston-Salem man charged in wife’s murder
The decapitated body of Maria Magdalena Rodriguez, 31 of Winston-Salem was found at about 1 a.m. on Sunday in a field near Williamsburg Road. The next day police arrested and charged her husband, 35-year-old Juan Carlos Rodriguez, with 1 st -degree murder in connection with his wife’s death. Maria Rodriguez had been missing since the evening of Nov. 18 and presumed dead since Nov. 29. Juan Rodriguez is being held in Forsyth County jail with no bond and will have his first court appearance on Jan. 14.
Greensboro bank robbery and arrest
A man walked into the Bank of America on East Bessemer Road at about 11 a.m. on Dec. 8 and handed the teller a note requesting money. After receiving a bag of money, the suspect, DeVaughn Damar Jones, 30, was located by responding officers and arrested without further incident. Jones faces commercial robbery charges in the incident at this time.
Winston-Salem bank robbed
The First Citizens Bank on University Parkway was robbed at about 1 p.m. on Monday. A man described as a black man, age 40 to 50, 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches, dressed in a white toboggan and a gray and white flannel jacket, demanded and left with an undisclosed amount of money. High Point Road Subway robbed
A man entered the Subway on High Point Road at about 10 p.m. on Dec. 10 armed with a handgun and was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a 5 foot 7 inches, heavy set, black man wearing gray clothing, a black toboggan and a stocking cap over his face. Anti-authoritarians shouldn’t drink and drive
Winston-Salem Police
officers SD Phillips and SD Robbins were conducting a license check in
the parking lot of a Burger King on Peters Creek Parkway at about 12:45
a.m. on Dec. 8 when a car turned left through a red light and drove down
an embankment between the road and Burger King and collided with the
officers’ vehicles. Both Phillips and Robbins were in their cars at the
time and subsequently arrested driver Matthew Williams, 19, of Clemmons.
The police charged Williams with two counts of assault with a deadly
weapon against a government official, reckless driving, failure to avoid
an accident, running a red light and driving with an open container of
alcohol. At the time Williams was driving a Chrysler 3000 and, according
to police, stated that his actions were intentional. Williams was put
in Forsyth County jail under $20,000 bond with a court date set for Jan.
