SCHOOLED IN FORSYTH

I support Elisabeth Motsinger, Donald Dunn and Jim Toole for Forsyth County School Board. In 2006 I ran unsuccessfully for the board. I did not like the way our children’s education was being managed and I like it less now. Motsinger, a current board member, is the one voice of reasoning on the board, demonstrating an understanding that children, regardless of the families from which they come, must learn in a safe and welcoming environment. Dunn, a business leader and early education center director, has a history of PTA, school and community involvement and the ability for engaging all members of the community. Toole, a business owner and actuary, is trained to focus on long-term outcomes rather than short-term fixes. These skills will be essential to oversee a school budget of $450 million.

CHANGE FOR GUILFORD

If voters are looking for a change, then Phil Wadsworth is definitely the change Guilford County needs. I have known Phil for 35-plus years and have always found him to be honest, hardworking and dependable. He is a person who does what he says and one never has to worry if the job will be done right. Phil was an outstanding leader on the NC Highway Patrol and worked oftentimes behind the scenes, giving others the credit. It is true that he may not have the finances to get his name plastered on billboards, but he is known throughout the county as a person that is well qualified to be the next sheriff of Guilford County. My only regret is that I cannot personally give Phil Wadsworth my vote, since I do not live in Guilford County. The citizens will be proud to say Phil Wadsworth is their new sheriff.

Joel Bullard, Tarboro Bullard is a restired sergeant of the NC Highway Patrol.

I don't understand why you subject your readers with Chuck Norris's weekly tirade about how he hates our president and the democratics in our congress. I've come to beleive that he's a primary owner of your publication as to how you keep letting him vent his fustration that the american people collectively fired the republicans in 2006 & 2008 and hopefully they won't fall for this constant media reporting that there's an impending republican landslide coming this November. The republican tea party has offered nothing except anger and no sound alternative solutions to help the dems get our economy turned around. I reckon since I find most of the rest of your magazine informative and entertaining it wouldn't be so bad to have to suffer through Norris' republican bitch fit if you would offer a democratic counter response....
