Hattie Aderholdt of the Greater Greensboro United Way describes her job thusly: “I head up the planned giving efforts,” she says, “gifts that are left in people’s wills. We’ve got a good number of folks, members of our Legacy Society. The effort has only been in place for a couple of years now, although we do have legacy gifts going back to the ’30s or ’40s.” On Wednesday the group will join with other Triad-area United Way organizations for a telethon to be aired on WGHP, WFMY and WXII to raise money for the 12-county area. “The mission for the organization,” she says, “is to improve lives by utilizing the caring power of our community.” Call 211 between 5 and 9 a.m. to make a donation.
