Like a lot of people, cancer has touched Don Richardson’s life. “My sister-in-law passed away from breast cancer,” he says, “and I had an uncle die from lung cancer.” But unlike a lot of people, he decided to do something about it. As director of business and community development for Carolina Cancer Services, Don helps raise money for cancer research and treatment. His next event is Saturday at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, featuring food, art, wine and jazz from Melva Houston — tickets can be had by calling 336.249.7265 or visiting www.carolinacancerservices.org — and proceeds benefit cancer patients in NC. “Four of 10 North Carolinians will have cancer in their lifetime,” Don says. “So many people it touches.”
