Jennifer John is organizing Rock THIs!
“We’re looking for bands that play any kind of rock music — modern rock, alternative rock, indie rock, country rock or punk rock,” she said. “We’ve been wanting to offer teens something special at Rock the Block. When we decided to move Rock the Block to a saturday this year, we realized we could put together a great battle of the bands.”
competing bands will be organized into preliminary rounds that will play during the afternoon. The winners of the preliminary rounds will then go head to head (and band to band) in a prime-time finale at 9 p.m.
entering bands must submit three songs, a band photo and parental consent forms for musicians 17 or younger. complete rules, forms and submission details are at www.rocktheblockws.com/RockTHIs.html. entries can be mailed or hand-delivered.
“Rock THIs! is open to any teen band in the area, be in Winston-salem or Greensboro or Wilkesboro or Burlington,” John said. “We want as many bands as possible to apply so we can put on a battle of the bands that offers some really great music for the crowd at Rock the Block.”
