Where did women turn in an era when abortion was illegal? Many were subjected to unsafe and oftentimes lethal back-alley abortions. Many others, however, found “Jane,” a feminist underground abortion provider service and the best-kept secret in Chicago. UNCG VOX (in association with the UNCG Women and Gender Studies Program and Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc.) presents Paula Kamen’s documentary play Jane: Abortion and the Underground October 16th at 8:00 p.m. and October 17th at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. in the Elliott University Center Auditorium on the UNCG campus. Post-show discussions, moderated by UNCG Women’s and Gender Studies faculty will follow each performance. Please note: Jane: Abortion and the Underground contains adult situations. There are no tickets for this event, however a donation of $5.00 is suggested. All proceeds benefit The Fund for Choice in the Triad with Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc.
