Winston-Salem Light Project
Date: Saturday, November 21, 2009
Phone: 336-770-3337
Location: Fourth Street side of the Pepper Building - Search in Maps
Details: The Winston-Salem Light Project, a partnership of the UNC School of the Arts and the Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County, is a multimedia public art presentation using the Pepper Building as the canvas during the evenings of Nov. 19, 20 and 21, 2009. Instead of lighting a building, as the Millennium Center was lit last year, this year’s Light Project will project up to 100 images onto the Fourth Street side of the Pepper Building during a 15-20-minute cycle. The cycles will run continuously from 7 to 11 p.m. each day. The images, which will be designed and implemented by lighting students in the UNCSA School of Design and Production, will focus on depletion of the world’s resources, the environment and sustainability. Faculty member Norman Coates is again leading the Winston-Salem Light Project, which will headline the 6 Days in November weekend for the arts in Winston-Salem. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available on the street or in surrounding parking decks.
