Joey Cain, AKA Joey Medaloni

In Section: Staff Blogs Posted By: smokey

Joey Cain, AKA Joey Medaloni has had questionable dealings with many people - I hope people see the pattern in the future before doing business with him.

I booked an event through his management back in '06. The agreements made were never adhered to by the N-Club management and Joey Cain. When I phoned them to discuss the issues, the management always blamed Joey Medaloni for why things weren't getting done pertaining to my event.

Since I had the talent booked and was responsible for payment anyway, I decided to pull my show from the N-Club venue with only 9 days left to show date. I moved the show to the Greensboro Coliseum's Odeon Theatre. Moveing the show cost me a lot of money but more importantly, caused confusion for people who had already purchased tickets.
I never received an apology or an offer for a compromise. Joey would not except phone calls nor return my calls.

I lost several thousand dollars getting into bed with the "Joey." Thank god for the good people at the Greensboro Coliseum. My experience with them has been at the opposite end of the spectrum. I continue my relationship with them to this day.

Medaloni, Sch-Medaloni. Boy this brings back some bad memories. Joey Medaloni, who has told a gazillion people that he's Italian and from New York, was really born and raised in Reidsville NC (25 miles from Greensboro) and has no Italian in him other than what pizza he's eaten. His real name is Bobby Joe Cain Jr., and he's told people he started calling himself Joey Medaloni to break away from the country "Bobby Joe" name and to break into big business. Maybe he should have stuck to Bobby Joe. He one ran a little all-male stripper outfit and worked in straight and gay nightclubs (he's so two-faced, he turned his back on his gay fans and would later deny stripping in gay clubs because of the perceived business taboo...by the way, the gay clubs paid him lots more than the straight ones ever did). When he wanted to buy the property to create the N Club, he went to everyone he knew, including some gay people he knew through personal and business dealings. When some of them turned Joey down, he never spoke to them again, a form of punishment for what he saw as being disloyal to him. Once he finally got the N Club open, he did fine for a good while, he's quite the schmoozer, but Joey's habit of turning against old friends, turning against old work acquaintances (including guys who working for his stripper outfit from the very beginning) -- and his poor business practices in dealing with some people he perceived as beneath him is what caught up to him. I have to give him credit that he was smart enough to get out of the business. He was loyal enough to his family to put his brother Matthew Cain in business as a deejay..mainly because the poor boy ain't a rocket scientist in the business world. And truth be known, Matthew's little martini bar is a Joey production, all while Joey pulls the strings from long distance. It goes without saying that I lost a great deal of respect for Joey Cain and his Medaloni world. It just goes to show that big money and a little fame can influence everyone. Joey came from a good family and had lots of really true friends. But money changed him for the worse. Truthfully, if he never comes back to Greensboro or the Triad, other than to visit his folks in Reidsville, it would suit me just fine.
