In the early morning hours of Sept. 6, Winston-Salem police responded to a call of a fight in progress at the intersection of Yadkinville Road and Shattalon Drive. Officers arrived on the scene to find James Gregory Swafford, 27, lying on his stomach in the middle of the intersection with several stab wounds to his upper body.

First Citizens Bank robbery

A First Citizens Bank located in Winston-Salem was robbed on Aug. 25. The suspect entered the bank, approached a teller and displayed a knife. He demanded money, and the teller handed over an undisclosed amount. The suspect left the bank on foot heading in a northerly direction.

After a month-long investigation Jon Palmieri, 32, was taken into custody by the Greensboro Police Department on Aug. 18 and charged with solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act. Palmieri communicated with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl online for a month before setting up a meeting to engage in sex.

Winston-Salem police officers reported to call at the Shell station located on University Parkway in Winston-Salem at about 1 a.m. on Aug. 11. The suspect approached the cashier demanding money from the drawer. The cashier believes the suspect was armed but did not see the weapon.

Thomas Foster was at coopers Ale House in Greensboro on Aug. 7 at about 2 a.m. where he met two women, whom he later agreed to meet up with at the clubhouse on Dolley madison Road. Upon arriving at the clubhouse, Foster saw the two women standing with a black male in the parking lot.

An 82-year-old woman living on West 25 th Street in Winston- Salem was woken by an intruder in her home on Aug. 1. The suspect demanded money from the woman and then sexually assaulted her. He fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Later in the day police detectives were able to obtain a warrant charging Sylvester Saunders Jr.

Police responded to 3 Girls convenience store on North Hampton Road in Winston-salem on Sunday at about 10:25 p.m. A store employee informed officers that three men had come into the store and demanded money. They escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim at 219 Lewis St., the address of Club Rain, in Greensboro. When officers arrived on the scene they reportedly located an unidentified black man in his mid-thirties lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Denise Tucker was in the living room of her home on Cottage Place in Greensboro on Sunday when she heard noises coming from the kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen, Tucker found a man going through her purse. The suspect fled the scene when he saw Tucker.
