The School of Music at UNCG presents three days of saxophone music
honoring saxophonist Eugene Rousseau Friday through Oct. 5. A
gala concert featuring the UNCG Jazz Ensemble under the direction of
Steve Haines featuring guest saxophonists Frank Bongiorno, Ralph
Bowen, Javier Valerio, Thomas Walsh, Jack Wilkins and Rousseau
himself takes place on Friday in Recital Hall. Saturday sees the world
premiere of “Ductus figuratus,” composed by Kirk O’Riordan in
honor of Rousseau’s 76th birthday at Recital Hall. And the grand finale
concert on Oct. 5 features works by Handel, Bach and Beethoven and a
performance by the Rousseau Celebration Orchestra.
