IDIOT BOX PRESENTS THE ROOM

Tonight the chucklemeisters at Greensboro’s Idiot Box screen this masterpiece of ridiculosity at the Carousel. Admission gets you a beer or a soda, and, for some reason, plastic spoons to throw at the screen.

Big chards. Opulent cabs. Peppery zins and velvety shiraz. Also, you get to keep the glass.

Tonight she comes to the Triad to this small, intimate room for a showcase of jazz, blues and R&B. A little advice: Get there early.

Sun., Sept. 20 RIDE-IN BREAKFAST

First Christian Church; 1130 N. Main St., Kernersville; 336.996.7388; 8:30 a.m.; donations appreciated Eddie Boggs, formerly of the Metal Rebel club in Winston-Salem, dies from natural causes in June 2006. He is remembered by bikers and brothers from all over the Triad today in a memorial ride and breakfast that begins at Kernersville’s First Christian Church and terminates at Wild Wing Café, a journey that neatly allegorizes Boggs’ life. The day will feature a performance by the band Return to Life.

UNCG FALL FEST UNCG

CAMPUS, Greensboro; 336.256.2013; www.uncg.edu.com; all day; FREE UNCG’s annual Fall Fest kicks off today with a celebration in the quad and continues until Sunday evening. Activities include a children’s festival, food, crafts, music and more. Of note, UNCG alum Chuck Folds, who is pursuing a PhD in geography, will lead his kid-friendly band Big Bang Boom on Saturday morning at 11.

Today Nickolay Hristiv of Brown University and Winston- Salem State University (and also a Wake Forest grad) will explore “Techniques for motion data analysis using thermal imaging and high-speed videography.” We admit: We don’t know what that means. But Hristov’s motto, according to his website, is “Study nature, not books.” We’re down with that.

TEE UP A WISH GOLF TOURNAMENT

Well grab your sticks and head out to Advance, where you’ll play so much golf you may even master your short game. This tournament is more like a marathon: 100 holes in a single day — if you can finish. And all proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina, which grants wishes to dying children. And, apparently, golfers who like to tee off on Mondays.
