Bank robber taken into custody
Joseph Widemon Jr. was arrested at 9 a.m. on July 1 for four bank robberies in the Greensboro area since June 1. Widemon has been charged with four counts of common law robbery for a June 1 robbery of Wachovia Bank on Battleground Avenue, a June 5 robbery of First Citizens Bank on North Elm Street, a June 15 robbery of State Employee’s Credit Union on West Market Street and a June 29 robbery of Southern Community Bank & Trust on Highwoods Boulevard. Widemon is currently being held in Guilford County Jail as Greensboro police detectives continue the investigation. Robbery at Dewey Street
Kynan Hudson, 18, was approached by two black males while walking near Dewey Street in Greensboro on Sunday at 3 a.m. One of the suspects held Hudson at gunpoint while the other went through the possessions, taking his cell phone, wallet and laptop computer. The suspects made Hudson run south as they left on foot in another direction. The first suspect is described as a black male, 20-25-years-old, 6’1” with long corn rows, a mustache, medium brown skin tone and wearing a red/white polo shirt.
