GREENSBORO ART HOP FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2009

By Foxy Moxy

Returning with reports of yet another funfilled, Greensboro-styled First Friday, I have the hot highlights for April. Under one roof at the Cultural Arts Center at 200 N. Davie St. you can take in the opening of Plane and Pedestal at the Green Hill Center for NC Arts, play artistic putt-putt at the Center for Visual Arts, catch Troup Bellisima’s Bellyjam or enjoy opera in the atrium where performers from the Greensboro Opera will delight with favorites from Mozart, Puccini and more.

Coming to enliven the art hop at Studio B at the Broach, 520 S. Elm St., is the work of artist Edwin Gill. Gill, a native of Columbia, SC, now lives in Charlotte and brings colorful, tri-dimensional show (Hi Paint) For Fun, For Love, For Life to Greensboro. The exhibit highlights Gill’s penchant for discovering meaning in the ordinary and for making the extraordinary readily accessible. Adding to the ambiance at Studio B will be live music by Franco Londono. For an entirely different kind of fun, stop by the Tin Rooster, 602 S. Elm Street, for a performance by artist/writer/comedian Sue Seamon. Planning to regale her audience with sophisticated puns from her humorous tale “Letters to Lucky,” Seamon uses over 30 different dog breeds to illustrate human personality traits. Billed as a short story for the grown-up coffee table, it sounds like a thoroughly entertaining stop along this month’s hop. Greensboro’s Gallery Hop List:
