First, we have a rare solo show at Artworks Gallery, a collective that features work by member artists. Jody Danner Walker, an artist trained in multiple disciplines, is featuring new works in cast glass, a medium she has worked in since 2001. This show was inspired by natural formations at Yellowstone National Park and photography documenting the artist’s trip will also be featured.
Ms. Walker has worked extensively with oils and acrylics and likens her new works to abstract paintings fused into glass. Entitled Beneath the Surface, Yellowstone Caldera, it is intended as a traveling show. The next destination for the exhibit will be the Anderson Center for the Arts in Indiana.
A trip across Trade Street will land you close to the door of 5ive & 40rty Gallery where you shouldn’t miss the cleverly named exhibit, eye cons by Michael Northuis. This will be the first showing of his new works regionally in over five years and he offers an intriguing perspective into the world of fine art cartoons.
Other well-known regional artists are featured at apercu gallery. Brian Hibbard: Paintings… Major Works and Minors Not Served represents the many different subjects and styles of the painter from landscapes to abstracts to murals. Also featuring Frank Russell’s popular whimsical fish sculptures crafted of reclaimed metal.
Apercu gallery is located within the Artists on Liberty Building. While you wander about the hop, don’t forget all the entertainers taking advantage of the night air. Check out Open Mic Night with Country Dan Collins outside the Artists on Liberty Building. Kristie Tharpe &
the Ruby Scarab Dance Troupe are also slated to shake and shimmy as
only they can on the streets of the Arts District. The ladies of Three
Graces Entertainment will delight crowds outside, near Atelier Studios
along with The Trade Street Mermaid (I’m jealous) and her pirate
escorts!

Trade Street Beach Party will be the theme during the August Gallery
Hop at Atelier Studios. The Trade Street Beach Mermaid will make an
appearance along with several jovial pirates. Beach ball games will be
ongoing in the street and Three Graces Entertainment will also perform
Polynesian and Oriental dance out front.
